It's not every day that you get the chance to taste a wine that actually represents the history of an appellation. And not just any wine. But of one of the most beloved in the world, Chianti Classico. This honour is granted to us when we are lucky enough to come across a bottle like this. Villa Antinori Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva, in fact, is one of the historic labels of the Antinori house, created in 1928 by Marquis Niccolò. A wine produced to be aged and improved over time, since then it has found its place in the most prestigious cellars of embassies, royal houses, grand hotels and restaurants. It is made from Sangiovese grapes, for once flanked by other complementary varieties. The grapes are first destemmed and then softly crushed, to initiate alcoholic fermentation and maceration that lasts for about 12 days. At the end of malolactic fermentation, the blend is made, which is then left to age in barrels until spring. Intense ruby red in colour, the nose has notes of small red fruits, currants and raspberries that blend well with notes of cherries and a slight woodiness. In the mouth it is harmonious and round. Very fresh and tannic, it has a very pleasant finish. It goes well with game dishes, but also (and perhaps above all) with the more classic bistecca alla fiorentina.

Antinori "pian Delle Vigne" Brunello Di Montalcino Docg 2018 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Svinando.co.uk
Shipping: 6.9 GBP

Brand: Antinori
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Pian delle Vigne is the Brunello di Montalcino from the house of Antinori, a family that certainly needs no introduction. After all, it has a tradition in wine of over 600 years. Produced, according to the regulations, exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, it is a wine of great elegance and finesse that acquires more and more class and complexity as the years go by. It comes from a careful selection of grapes, followed by a slow alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature and a malolactic conversion in order to round the edges of the Sangiovese impetuous character. This is followed by aging in large oak barrels for over 2 years. In the glass it is a beautiful deep ruby red colour. On the nose, an ample bouquet of red fruit, roasted and evolved scents and a light note of spice. On the palate, however, it is soft and silky. Nice structure and perfect balance. A perfect glass right now but not afraid to wait a few more years to give us even more satisfaction.

Antinori "pèppoli" Chianti Classico Docg 2023 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75
Svinando.co.uk
Shipping: 6.9 GBP

Brand: Antinori
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

For many, Peppoli is even synonymous with Chianti Classico. And for anyone who loves Sangiovese, this splendid red is still a reference point when thinking of the world's best-known Tuscan red. Antinori's Peppoli comes from the estate of the same name located about 5 km from the prestigious Tignanello vineyard. The typical Peppoli blend foresees that most of the grapes used are Sangiovese, while the remainder is equally divided between Syrah and Merlot. The result is a powerful, elegant and pleasantly spicy wine. In the glass it is covered with a beautiful ruby cloak edged with violet reflections. The nose is complex and broad, with notes of juicy red fruit, such as cherries and raspberries, and more floral notes typical of Sangiovese. On the finish the toasted notes emerge nicely integrated with all the others. The mouthfeel is warm, with fine and elegant tannins. A long ending that goes on for several seconds.

Antinori "pian Delle Vigne" Rosso Di Montalcino Doc 2023 - Country: Italy - Capacity: 0.75

Brand: Antinori
Category: Alcoholic Beverages

Montalcino is a magical hill. An enchanted territory from which some of the most loved Italian wines in the world come. But if the noble Brunello is a wine for special occasions, a good Rosso di Montalcino, like this Pian delle Vigne by Antinori, can be a valid alternative. An elegant and pleasant Sangiovese, not too intense. Easy to drink without losing the charm that comes from a territory and a unique name in the world. In the glass it has a lovely ruby red colour, not too deep, as is right for the passport and the grape variety. The nose is dominated by notes of fruit, made more complex by slightly spicy touches. In the mouth it is well structured, thanks also to the right alcohol content, and well supported by noble and elegant tannins.
